A Little Write up to Celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child

I don't know if I should call this a Poem but it just popped up in my mind. I'm not what you wished I was, but I came I might not be what you prayed for but I still came Not to suit your needs. But I'm who I am because I was born for a purpose Fragile you call me But, I'm stronger than you think I take up more than what you imagined My glory is evident in my beauty Beauty we speak, my kinky hair glows My blonde straight hair with it's slender tenderness glows My Afro, rocks My low cut doesn't make me less but shows my strength My curly hair is my pride I flaunt my wonderful structured physique Down from my ever blazing face to my feet My feet, only steps to conquer and dominate I'm fearless. I can't be intimidated I can't be abused because I'm precious I can't be drawn down by your insecurities I can't be restricted from achieving my dream I'm Black, I'm White I'm your Brown Skinned Girl Regar...

Pay Attention to Social Media and Hate Your LIfe

Today, I will be writing from from my own experiences. I practically follow lots of persons on social media, I follow celebrities but not much because I believe they have a different lifestyle, I follow friends and sometimes strangers whom are mostly teens and whose lifestyle are more relatable to mine. And then I would always go online just to view and like their pictures mostly on Instagram. I see most of my  friends and sometimes strangers post admirable pictures of them on a vacation, on an adventure or in an expensive dress or most times hanging out in a nice restaurant on the Island. I'd be like "oh mine this is so cool, when will I ever go there". I would always wonder how they somehow get to live a good life ..I concluded that some persons just found themselves in the better side of life.  I would use that as a defensive mechanism; an excuse for being bottled up in my "I wish I was like them" misery. Well that defense wall crumbled down when I saw ...

One of My Most Awkward and Embarrassing moments

Everyone, once in a while must have encountered one or more embarrassing moments in their lives. Well, today I will be telling you mine. Note; I might drop any form of formality in my writing. One fateful day, I was on an holiday at Lagos, my school had closed for the semester. It was a Saturday, and as usual in an average Nigerian home we are expected to always do the house chores. That day, our neighbour who lives in the next building close to ours was holding a party, you know Yoruba parties na...Loud music, men and women on "asoebi" and most of all foods and drinks everywhere. I had to stay indoor to finish my chores before even thinking of going downstairs to do small "amebo", but that didn't stop me from peeping through the window to check what they were doing. Later that evening, I remembered that I had not yet bought kerosene and we were completing out. It was already late and my parent could be back anytime soon. Immediately, I rushed and wore my...

The Unanswered Questions?

Alright, as humans we are naturally curious. Well, a lot had me thinking of lots of things- things like family, school, society and yeah, the world. Note..I'm not scientifically bothered about them. I'm just naturally bothered about them. Starting out with the SOCIETY. It's funny that I grew up in a very disciplined home, where you get punished in the "African way" whenever you misbehaved. Our parents were mostly burdened about the character we displayed in public, our dressing, our mode of approach etc. They had this"what will people say?" syndrome . Yeah, I called it a syndrome, because to me it was, in the sense that they just get carried away with what others-the society- thinks about their family. It's actually general, it spreads like a disease to many other African home. The old African way, leave you with lots of bitter sweet memorable experiences that affects your behaviour in public.   Honestly, those modes of training came with lots ...
